A new 7-Eleven is coming to town, but you won’t see something what you would normally find in the convenient store.

The new 7-Eleven will be at the corner of Torrance Boulevard and Madrona Avenue, where a Valero service station is currently located. It was unanimously approved by the City Council at a recent meeting. The approval was on the basis that no alcohol be sold at the location.

Business owners in the area were concerned that the opening of the new store would increase light pollution and trash.

Mayor Furey stated that he hoped the addition of the store would bring new customers to the corner shopping center, thus benefiting the existing businesses.

The redevelopment had originally been denied by the Planning Commission, but was brought before the Council on appeal.
