The Torrance Memorial Medical Center is celebrating its 90th anniversary today while honoring some of its oldest volunteers.
The Torrance Memorial Medical Center celebrated its 90th anniversary while honoring 11 of its volunteers who are over the age of 90. Ninety years ago the vision of city founder Jared Sidney Torrance and his wife Helena Childs Torrance was realized when the doors to the 32-bed hospital opened in old Torrance in 1925. As part of the celebration, guests and volunteers traveled back in time to experience the music, cars and clothing of 1925. Just last year, these 11 volunteers donated over 159,000 hours of their time. Today, the center has well over 3,000 staff.
