A local college campus has upgraded some facilities with state-of-the-art projects.

El Camino College is celebrating the grand opening of two learning centers on campus. This includes a brand new 44,000-square-foot Center for Applied Technology. The center was designed with green technology and recycled water for landscape irrigation.

The Industry Technology Education Center also received a renovation. The ITEC features 70 classrooms and 24 labs for the college’s industry and technology programs.

Both renovations cost a total of $68.2 million. The work was made possible with funds from the 2002 Measure E facilities bond.

The college will host a ceremony to celebrate the openings this Thursday at 4 p.m.
