A local CEO was inducted in to the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame.

Janice Bryant Howroyd, founder and CEO of ACT 1 Group, was given the good news at the 30th Annual Alumni Hall of Fame weekend. ACT 1 Group is the largest minority-owned employment agency in the world. Howroyd accepted the award, saying that it was a tremendous honor.

The National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame Foundation is dedicated to developing historically black colleges and universities through programs and education advancement.

ACT-1 was started in 1978, and since then has grown into a multi-billion dollar company with more than 17,000 clients. Earlier this year, Howroyd was ranked on Forbes’ 2015 list of American’s Richest Self Made women. She also was featured on NBC’s Today Show.

The ACT-1 Group has its headquarters on 190th Street in Torrance.
