Police officers in California will soon have to abide by a new law which requires data collecting.

Gov. Jerry Brown recently signed into effect the Racial and Identity Profiling Act, which requires local law enforcement agencies to collect demographic data on the people they stop.

This legislation comes after complaints of racial profiling and potential bias of police officers.

The Torrance Police Department has no definite date as to when the new law will be instituted in the City.
