A man charged last year with threatening a massacre at a local college was in Torrance Superior Court recently.

James Gustavo Lemus, a 36-year-old Hawthorne man, was granted a new preliminary hearing after two psychiatrists testified he was delusional. The psychiatrists agreed Lemus was not competent to understand what happened during his previous hearing this time last year.

El Camino College police arrested Lemus on Oct. 1 2014 after he allegedly threatened a mass killing. Lemus remained in custody on a $1.2 million bail. He is scheduled for a new preliminary hearing Oct. 20.
