A local long distance runner finished an annual race in first place.

Teddy Kassa, a former El Camino College and West Torrance High School distance runner, successfully beat out more than 2,700 runners at this year’s Manhattan Beach 10k. Kassa, 21, set a record with his time of 31 minutes, 41 seconds. It was the fastest time in three years.

The race featured runners from 6 to 88 years of age.
