The Torrance Public Works department is once again hosting one of the largest water conservation events in the South Bay.

Registration is open for the second rain barrel giveaway of the year. The City and the South Bay Environmental Services Center will provide 500 rain barrels to Torrance residents who sign up.

Chuck Schaich from the Public Works Department says he received more than 50 calls after the first event with residents asking when the next one would be. Schaich says these types of programs show residents the importance of saving water from mother nature, and that they also are a constant reminder to live a water-friendly lifestyle.

The event will be held Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at West High School, 20401 Victor Street. Interested residents can sign up online at www.SBESC.Com or by calling (424) 271-4688.
