The Torrance Police Department is asking the community to be vigilant as they look for a scam suspect.
Police say there have been two incidents of elderly women being approached and told that their cars needed repair. The male suspect, who is described as being 6 feet, 2 inches tall and about 230 pounds in both incidents, told the victims he was a AAA employee. After fixing their cars, the suspect took the victims to a bank for money.
During one incident, he asked for $650 for each nut he supposedly repaired on the victims’ wheel. Police say the incidents happened during the day.
Sergeant Paul Kranke from the Torrance Police Department is urging residents to stay safe by not talking to anyone that may approach them.
Anyone with information is asked to call Torrance Police at (310) 618-5570.
