The County of Los Angeles Department of Beaches and Harbors is helping residents prepare for El Nino starting this week.

Filled Sandbags will be offered at eight locations across L.A. County, including Torrance Beach, Will Rogers Beach, Dockweiler Beach, Manhattan Beach, Venice Beach and Malibu’s Zuma Beach.

Each person can pick up to 10 sandbags. The L.A. County Beaches and Harbors website shows the importance of sandbags and how properly placed bags can help redirect storm and debris flows away from properties.

The free sandbags will be offered from today through March 6, 2016.

According to L.A. County, El Nino storms this year are estimated to be the strongest they have ever been.
