Thirty Torrance firefighters fought a tough fire early late last night into this morning.

The Torrance Fire Department rushed to Walteria Lake after reports of a 1-acre fire at the stormwater basin. The call was reported at 11:52 p.m. last night, and the fire took about 30 minutes to knock down.

Torrance Fire Capt. Bob Millea said the most difficult part was to cut through the fence to get to where the fire was burning.

No injuries were reported, and the fire is currently under investigation.

The Walteria Lake stormwater basin is located across Ocean Avenue from Lago Seco Park in Torrance.
