Students at West High School in Torrance are making a difference in the community.

The group was busy putting together food packages for children in need. The event is part of the Chik-fil-A Leader Academy. It’s a national high school program that focuses on impact through action. The program teaches students how to reach out into the community.

Students at West high kicked off their first academy event by filling 100 bags with lentils, rice and vegetables. The bags will be sent to the organization Feed the Children. Chik-Fil-A also provided lunch for the students.

The school was chosen by Chik-Fil-A on 182nd Street and Hawthorne Boulevard in Torrance. The Academy helps bring meals to 1 million kids in the country.
