The Volunteer Center in Torrance received a special delivery this afternoon.
Torrance High School staff dropped off nearly 10,000 canned food items. The overwhelming donation brought smiles to the volunteers.
The week-long canned food drive was successful thanks to a heated competition between the different classes. The juniors brought in the highest number of cans with about 4,000. Seniors came in second with 2,600 cans.
The donated items will be used to supply non-perishable food to needy elementary school children in the South Bay area.
