The Torrance Police Department released results from this past weekend’s DUI checkpoint.

Enforcement conducted a DUI and driver’s license stop in the eastbound lanes of the 4300 block of Pacific Coast Highway on Dec. 18 between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m.

Officers made 7 DUI arrests. Eleven drivers were cited or arrested for driving without a license or on a suspended/revoked license. Throughout that evening, nearly 2,100 vehicles passed through the check point.

The checkpoints have shown to lower DUI deaths and injuries. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 90 percent of California drivers approve of the checkpoints.
