A local car company has proven to be water-wise.

The CDP, which was in the past called the Carbon Disclosure Project, has selected Toyota as one of the top companies for its water conservation efforts.

Toyota, with U.S. headquarters in Torrance, will be featured in the first ever ‘A-list for water security within the CDP annual global water report. Its North American water conservation efforts saved more than 54 million gallons of water in 2015 alone.

To put this into perspective, that is 82 Olympic-size swimming pools worth of water.

Toyota conserved water through additional water filtration in paint operations, rain water collection, native and drought-resistant landscaping and water metering.

This year Toyota focused on five priorities: carbon, water, materials, biodiversity and outreach.
