Honda’s entry, called “Nature’s Hope,” will lead the 2016 Rose Parade.
Honda, with its U.S. headquarters based here in Torrance, picked “Nature’s Hope” for the “Find Your Adventure” theme this year. The float depicts iconic national parks in the United States and Japan. It’s supposed to be a symbolic display of the harmony between the two nations.
The front of the float is inspired from Sanriku Fukko National Park, which was established after the Japan earthquake and tsunami of 2011. While the other side will showcase the scenic beauty and wildlife found in America’s national parks.
At 100-feet long and 24-feet high, it’s a creation that is among the largest in this year’s Rose Parade. It’s the 55th year Honda has participated in the Rose Parade.
