A popular fast-food chain has added a healthy option to the menu.

Right after saying good-bye to coleslaw, Chik-Fil-A added a kale and broccolini salad to its menu. It is considered one of the first fast-food restaurants in the industry to offer “super foods” to customers.

Today, is the second day customers can begin ordering the kale salad. The dish is made with a blend of hand-chopped kale and broccolini, mixed with a sweet and tangy maple vinaigrette dressing. To top it all off, the salad also has roasted nuts.

The super-food side dish will also be offered as a substitution in any combo meal for an up-charge of 94 cents.

The company says it is always looking for new ways to introduce healthier and all-natural items.

Chik-Fil-A was also the first quick-service restaurant to offer a fruit cup as a side, and added a grilled entrée to the kids menu in 2012.

Torrance has Chik-fil-A locations at 21821 Hawthorne Blvd. and 18200 Hawthorne Blvd.
