The Public Works Department is moving forward to complete another large project in Torrance.
Phase 3 of the Optimized Weekly Street Sweeping program will begin in March, with crews putting up street sweeping/no parking signs in residential areas that don’t already have them. Officials say this includes areas north of Sepulveda Boulevard and east of Madrona Avenue.
The first step is to go out to bid for a contractor for this phase. The goal of the project goal is to comply with storm water regulations to help reduce the amount of trash and other debris that goes into the ocean. The City of Torrance already does routine cleaning and maintenance of storm drains.
The department expects to begin posting signs in May, and it could take up to six months to complete the process.
