The South Coast Air Quality Management District will hold a hearing this Saturday regarding the ExxonMobil refinery in Torrance.
ExxonMobil recently said they had been working with the South Coast Air Quality Management District on a potential plan to restart the fluid catalytic cracking unit. The refinery is looking for approval so it can resume normal operations.
Last year, there was an explosion at the ExxonMobil refinery in Torrance during maintenance on a piece of FCC pollution control equipment called an electrostatic precipitator.
ExxonMobil plans to sell the refinery to PBF Energy once the facility is fully operational. An ExxonMobil spokeswoman says the company’s focus is on resuming the work safely.
The hearing will take place in the James Armstrong Theatre in Torrance starting at 9 a.m., it will be available to view later on the Torrance CitiCABLE YouTube channel.
