A local high school brings home the big win at a regional competition.
The robotics team at South High School vied for the regional title against 65 teams. South was undefeated in all the qualification matches, and ranked No. 1 before the playoffs.
The BeachBots was the team South was looking to beat as they have won the Los Angeles Regional competition seven times before. The South High TorBots showed off their best skills and did prevail.
The theme of the game this year was called Stronghold. It involves scaling down the opponents tower by first firing boulders and then using rungs.
Twenty-eight students from South High participated, spending more than six weeks to build their robot.
