An Italian pastime enjoyed by fans of all ages will soon be coming to Columbia Park in Torrance.
The City is one step closer to getting three bocce ball courts installed at the park at 190th Street and Prairie Avenue. While it is a Parks and Recreation project, the design is being handled by the Public Works Department, which will begin advertising the project for a construction bid next week with results in about three weeks.
The cost of the three bocce ball courts is estimated at about $220,000. The courts should be built in under two months.
Public Works was asked to design and manage the construction of the new addition to the park. They’re hoping to share this popular pastime with residents by the end of summer. The bocce ball courts will be located adjacent to the parking lot on Prairie Avenue.
