Construction of Torrance’s new transit terminal officially kicked off on Monday.

The long-awaited phase 1 of the City’s Transit Park and Ride Regional Terminal construction includes rough grading and storm drain construction.  The City broke ground in September 2015, nearly a decade after the transit center at Del Amo Fashion Center closed.

The purpose of the new Transit terminal is to create a strategically located, multi-modal facility that meets the needs of South Bay commuters. This will reduce single-occupancy vehicle trips thanks to the terminal’s close proximity to the 405 and 110 freeways, and it will provide more routes for other regional providers that will use the new terminal.

The City has set up a camera to make a time-lapse recording of events at the construction site. Click here to watch the video and track the progress going forward.
