A new international supermarket is headed to Torrance soon.

Nearly a year ago, H-Mart West Inc applied for a conditional use permit, with plans to spend close to $8 million to convert the former Orchard Supply Hardware store on Pacific Coast Highway near Anza Avenue into an international supermarket and food court.

The Korean-owned company currently has seven stores in California and 50 throughout the United States. H-Mart offers a wide variety of items, including 95 types of fresh seafood, 10 types of live seafood and 86 types of rice.

Construction plans on the site include additional parking spaces created by converting the former OSH garden center into a parking lot.

H-Mart also has an online store where shoppers can purchase selected items. You can go to HMart.com to find out more.
