Another large water project is under way this week.

Today the California Water Service started a water system improvement project in an area just east of Torrance. The agency plans to install more than 1,500 feet of water main to improve fire flow, water-supply reliability and water quality for local customers.

The original pipe was installed more than 50 years ago, and is now deteriorating.

The new main is not only cost-effective, but won’t corrode over time. It is being installed from the cul-de-sacs of West 226th and West 227th streets to the 2600 block of Doble Avenue to West 228th Street. The construction will continue Monday through Friday, so you will want to watch out for traffic delays.

Cal Water serves nearly 309,000 people in Carson, Torrance, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach and the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Construction is expected to be complete by late-June.  For more information, you can go to CalWater.Com.
