Just yesterday marked the first day of a holy month for millions of Muslims around the world.
This year, Ramadan for many started on June 6 and goes until July 5. During this month, Muslims fast from before sunrise until after sunset.
Muslims believe during this time the holy book of the Islamic religion, the Quran was first revealed to the prophet Muhammad.
There are exceptions to fasting for children, the elderly, the sick, and also women who are pregnant. Many break their fast like the prophet did around 1,400 years ago, with a sip of water and dates at sunset.
