Torrance firefighters are back home safe after assisting with battling a wildfire in Calabasas.
As a large wildfire swept through the Calabasas area starting Saturday, Torrance firefighters were called out to the scene to help fight the more than 500-acre blaze. Nearly 5,000 people were evacuated from their homes. Five engines and one command vehicle from Torrance were in the area for two days. Their main goal was protect homes that were in danger.
Torrance firefighters were at the scene of what was named the “Old Fire,” making sure the fire didn’t expand and that smaller brush fires were controlled.
Officials say the fire started after a pickup truck struck a power pole on Mulholland Highway in Calabasas.
