Another local project is making progress.
Crews have been working to import soil at the future Torrance Transit Park and Ride Regional Terminal site. Since April, they have been preparing the site for phase two, which will start next year. The city plans to bring in enough soil to fill an estimated 40,000 cubic yards.
The future center will have 12 bus stalls, two of which will be able to accommodate 60-foot buses. It also will have approximately 250 parking spaces, with the ability to expand to 500, passenger information kiosks, and even bicycle storage area.
The construction of this facility will hopefully reduce the amount of vehicle trips by one person, since it is located close to the 405 and 110 freeways.
Torrance Transit has about 3.9 million passenger boarding’s per year.
