The City’s sidewalk project is now in its final stage.

Public Works officials say the project focuses on three areas and will continue into late July. The first two neighborhoods were in North Torrance, and the current area in progress is in Southwood. They are replacing sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, along with removing damaged trees. The city of Torrance is responsible for maintaining approximately 550 miles of sidewalks within the public right of way. The goal of the project is to identify and repair any sidewalks that may be a hazard. Many times, displaced sidewalks are caused by tree roots or underlying expansive soil. If you would like to report any sidewalk concerns, you can call the Public Works Department at (310)781-6900.
