A famous park in Torrance is a little bit old and a little bit new after a major renovation.
After a week of installation and work, Los Arboles “Rocketship” Park is once again open to the public to enjoy. The park’s old upper playground equipment was removed for new sets, which includes a play area for ages 2 to 5 years and one 5 to 12 years. A teeter totter, three bays of swings, lunar monkey bars and two other climbing pieces are also part of the fun. During renovations, the rocketship and moon lander were not touched.
Torrance’s Community Services Department says they made plans to renovate Los Arboles Park because it had the oldest playground equipment. It had few pieces that were broken, and replacement parts were no longer available.
Officials say their goal is to replace equipment in parks that need the most attention.
