A local organization is trying to keep up with its growth and is asking for the community’s help.
The South Bay Village in Torrance is in need of volunteers to support seniors with their daily activities. The organization currently assists 36 members and has 40 volunteers. Executive Director, Ghislaine Davis, says with more educational programs in the works, the South Bay Village needs at least three volunteers per member. She says they like volunteers to help out when they can and want them to have flexible hours.
Volunteers assist in driving seniors to doctor appointments, pick up prescriptions, grocery shop, run errands, and visit with them. The South Bay Village helps seniors stay in their own homes with their services.
