This week will be a somber time for people across the country, as five fallen officers from the Dallas Police Department will be laid to rest.
President Obama arrived in Dallas today to speak at the slain officers’ memorial. Torrance Police Chief Mark Matsuda also left today with six officers from the Department. He will attend all five officers’ funerals.
Last week, these officers were gunned down during what started as a peaceful protest in downtown Dallas.
Here at home, the community has shown an outpouring of support for the Torrance Police Department. Matsuda says friendly notes have been left on officers’ cars, flowers and goods have been dropped off at the station.
In honor of the Dallas victims, President Obama has ordered the United States flags be flown at half-staff. As a mark of respect for the fallen officers, all United States flags at the White House and all public buildings and grounds are set to be flown at half-staff until sunset tonight.
