A luxury car brand lined up its newest fleet of green cars right here in the City of Torrance.

As part of a tour around the country, BMW showcased its plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles to the community and City employees at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center today.

The BMW Charge the Workday program started so the company can introduce green cars to top corporations with green initiatives. They brought nine vehicles today, which included BMW plug-in hybrid vehicles like the 330e, X5, along with other electric vehicles.

BMW chose Torrance because of its record of environmentally friendly initiatives.

People had the opportunity to test drive various models for about 15 minutes. In appreciation for their partnership, BMW will be giving the City a new level two electric charging station. The company’s next stop will be in San Diego.
