Tonight, the Torrance City Council will review a list of proposed projects that will benefit the community.

Projects ranging from solar panels, electric vehicles and hybrid buses are a few of the ideas that will be recommended to the Council before being submitted to the South Coast Air Quality Management District for consideration.

More than $2.5 million in fines from ExxonMobil will be allocated for community safety enhancements in the region. In April, the SCAQMD board allowed ExxonMobil to restart operations under specific conditions, which included the fines. About half of those fines were set aside to be used for projects that will benefit the communities surrounding the refinery.

You can tune into the City Council meeting at 7 p.m. to get the latest on this topic. The meeting can be seen online or on CitiCABLE.
