A DUI and license checkpoint over the weekend included two arrests.

More than 1,600 vehicles passed through a checkpoint in the eastbound lanes of the 5400 block of Torrance Boulevard between 8 p.m. Friday through early Saturday morning.

The two DUI arrests is lower than the last DUI checkpoint during the July 4 weekend, when three drivers were arrested. Also five drivers were cited for driving without a license and 10 people were cited for operating a car with a suspended or revoked license.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, checkpoints have proved to be effective. The checkpoint was funded by a grant.
