A Torrance company announces it’s paving the way to finding a new treatment for sickle cell disease.

Emmaus Life Sciences, Inc. has more than 20 years of research and development when it comes to sickle cell disease. The company says it will be submitting a  drug application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in September for a new treatment for the hereditary disease.

Data shows that the Emmaus Life Sciences phase 3 sickle cell disease trial demonstrates a reduction in the frequency of sickle cell crises and hospitalizations.
