Campuses across Torrance are celebrating Red Ribbon Week in a different way each day.

Schools marked the national awareness campaign by encouraging students to dress up in various attire. Seaside and Walteria Elementary schools had Crazy Socks Day today, while Arnold Elementary asked students to sign a pledge asking students to be Drug Free just to name a few examples.

This year’s Red Ribbon Week theme is You Only Live Once, be Drug Free. Schools hope to raise awareness of problems related to the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco.

The City of Torrance also proclaimed this week Red Ribbon Week at last week’s City Council meeting. The City urged the community to display red ribbons in support of making the community a drug free environment.
