One major road improvement project in Torrance is about to wrap up for the year.
The Public Works Department says it is in the final week of work for the Slurry Seal Project. Today and throughout the week, the area bounded by Del Amo Boulevard on the north, Torrance Boulevard on the south, Madrona Avenue on the east and Henrietta Street on the west will be slurry sealed.
Also parts of Carson Street between Madrona Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard will be re-slurried to repair damages caused by rain. This has caused Carson Street to be closed for the majority of the day, and has closed off traffic on Maple Avenue from crossing Carson. Closures will continue through the end of the week until Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The slurry seal program is designed to provide scheduled preservation treatment to asphalt-paved roadways. This year, the City applied slurry seal to approximately 2.3 million square feet of residential roadways.
