The Torrance Police Department conducted a DUI/drivers license checkpoint recently.

There were a total of three arrests on Nov. 18 through the morning of Nov 19. The checkpoint was in the 4300 block of Pacific Coast Highway. Throughout the evening 964 cars passed through. Ten drivers were cited or arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended or revoked.

The Police Department is encouraging people to always have a game plan ready and have a designated driver in mind.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Traffic officers will be out performing their normal DUI task force across the South Bay this holiday weekend. Sgt. Paul Kranke says they also will have extra officers patrol at the Del Amo Fashion Center.
