For another year, the Torrance Police Department and Public Works are hoping to give you one less thing to worry about during the holidays.
They plan to suspend parking enforcement for street sweeping violations during the holiday season. This will start Dec. 18 and run through Jan. 1. Street sweeping operations during this time will continue. They hope to make this a standard practice during the holiday season going forward.
Council Mike Griffiths requested Council to bring this item to be approved earlier this year. After some research, staff found that on average, 65 parking citations are issued during the two-week period that surrounds the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. All residential streets in the City are swept once a week Monday through Thursday.
While street sweeping violations are being put on hold, anyone in violation of any other parking ordinance will still be subject to receiving a parking citation.
