A local safety project is almost complete.

The Public Works Department announced that commuters will face lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through the end of the week as they plan to remove one tree and a chain link fence from the center median on Pacific Coast Highway.

The project creates safety improvements on the south side of PCH, along the southern median between Calle Mayor and Janet Lane. Traffic will be reduced from two lanes to one. A new guardrail and ornamental steel fence also was added as part of the project.
