As Southern Californians welcome the rain this week, the City is making sure you’re prepared.

The Street Maintenance Department at the City Yard is providing free sand bags for Torrance residents living in single-family homes and duplexes. The City Yard, located at 20500 Madrona Avenue, is giving out a maximum of 25 filled sandbags per resident. Please call Public Works at (310) 781-6900 before coming to the City Yard to make sure a crew is available to help load the sandbags into a truck or car and to verify available hours. Also, be sure to bring some form of ID (Driver’s License) to show residency within the City of Torrance.

If there is a need after hours, Torrance residents can call Torrance Fire Station 1 (310) 781-7042 to find the closest fire station offering free sandbags. Fire Station 1 on Carson Street and Crenshaw Boulevard has unfilled and filled sandbags, and is available only after business hours.
