The Torrance Certified Farmers’ Market is joining a national campaign.

Officials say they are excited to promote the California Grain Campaign in Torrance this Saturday. The goal is to bring whole grains to customers and for California farmers’ market vendors to use at least 20 percent locally grown whole grain flour in their products by 2020.

The campaign expands marketing opportunities for small-scale California grain growers and to treat regionally grown and processed grains as we treat the produce sold at the Farmers’ Market. It educates communities about the many benefits associated with including California whole grains in our diet.

Mai Nguyen, the designer of the campaign will be at the Torrance Farmers’ Market on Saturday. Then on Jan. 21, a new bread vendor called Lodge Bread will be coming to the Torrance Farmers’ Market. They use whole grains grown from small farms and till the wheat themselves.
