El Camino College’s Art Gallery just opened its new exhibit called “Personal Matters.”

Thirteen Southern California artists will have their artwork on display. Emerging from a rich art historical tradition of works representing private experience – Frida Kahlo, Vincent Van Gogh and Max Beckmann to name a few – the artists in this exhibit depict their own experiences.

The gallery explores the artists’ circumstances and psyche. It includes struggles, love, courage, humor and cultural difference portrayed on the personal level. One artist shares his life with his wife in Egypt while another artist shares drawings created while on a meditative artist retreat in Joshua Tree.

The exhibit will continue through March 9.

The El Camino College Art Gallery is located on campus at 16007 Crenshaw Blvd.
