The Torrance Police Department and the California Highway Patrol continue to investigate a pursuit that left an innocent driver dead.

Early Monday morning, a driver identified as Zachary Alexander, 22, of San Pedro lead a pursuit in the area of Sepulveda Boulevard and Maple Avenue. It ended soon after at the Intersection of Carson Street and Maple Avenue where the car Alexander was driving collided with an uninvolved motorist, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

Alexander is charged with vehicle theft, felony evading and murder. With him in the car was Deborah Ornelas. She was charged with vehicle theft. All of these charges will be submitted to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for felony filing consideration.

The CHP is handling the traffic investigation. No officers were injured during this incident.
