Torrance firefighters and other Los Angeles County fire personnel put their skills to the test today.
Twenty-one firefighters took part in a state of the art “green cell” training, which uses video and audio to create a real life fire emergency simulation. Participants faced different structure fires at Torrance’s Fire Station 1, but it was all in a classroom.
The training simulator is in real-time and puts the pressures of a real life incident on the commander running it. It force firefighters to adopt to the different changes that happen during the emergency. It’s part of an ongoing simulation training and learning tool that Torrance firefighters can take part in.
Manhattan Beach and L.A. City Fire also participated.
