Torrance City Council plans to announce April as a month of live giving acts.
Mayor Patrick Furey will proclaim April as DMV, Donate Life California Month in the City of Torrance. It’s an encouragement for people to check “yes” to donating organs when applying for or renewing a driver’s license.
More than 118,000 individuals nationwide and more than 21,000 Californians are currently on the national organ transplant waiting list. On average, 22 people die each day while waiting due to the shortage of donated organs. Donation of tissue can save and heal the lives of up to 50 others and a single blood donation can help three people in need.
California residents can sign up with the Donate Life California Donor Registry online or when applying for or renewing a driver’s license or ID card at the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
