An El Camino College student is making sure students on campus stay hydrated while reducing waste.
There are now five FloWater stations installed on campus where people can refill water bottles with purified water. The idea to install a hydration system on campus was spearheaded by Student Body President Eman Dalili, who came up with this initiative to encourage students and staff to bring their own reusable water bottles to campus and refill them at one of these hydration stations. The goal is to be eco-friendly and save students money. It also means fewer plastic bottles in trash bins.
In the past several weeks, more than 27,000 water bottles have been filled. Each refill station purifies water at over 700 milliliters per minute and accommodates any bottle size.
