Banners honoring our men and women in uniform were going up today.

Crews were busy installing Hometown Heroes military banners on Torrance Boulevard as part of the city’s recognition program. Every year, applications are accepted for new banners that honor men and women in uniform who are currently serving in the Armed Forces, veterans who have served in the past or veterans who have passed away. The new banners are installed coinciding with the annual Armed Forces Day Parade in May.

This year 15 new banners will be installed directly on the parade route. The banners are proudly displayed through summer. All applicants must be Torrance residents or an immediate family member to a Torrance resident. The honor includes a banner with their picture and title.

To date there have been more than 100 banners created.
