Triple A released a new report today recommending roadway improvements that could save thousands of lives.
According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, simple roadway improvements have the potential to save more than 63,000 lives and prevent more than 350,000 serious injuries over a 20 –year period.
The survey suggests to use the recently approved state gas tax and vehicle registration fee hikes towards converting key intersections into roundabouts, install roadside barriers, add sidewalks and signalized pedestrian crossings on major roads, install median barriers, shoulder and centerline rumble strips, while also paving and widening shoulders.
The City of Torrance is always looking for ways to better our city roads and make improvements. Few projects include the recent Crenshaw Rehabilitation project, citywide sidewalk ramping and grinding program as well as the sidewalk repair for handicap accessibility.
