Across the Country, people are saluting men and women of law enforcement.

President Donald Trump has proclaimed this week as National Police Week, a time to remember law enforcement officers who have been killed or disabled in the course of serving our communities. It’s also a time to appreciate the officers who put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe.

Torrance Police Officer Greg Tiddle was in Washington, D.C., to take part in the annual police unity challenge ride, where hundreds of officers rode their bicycles from various points of the East Coast, primarily New Jersey and Virginia to D.C. The tour is a way to spread awareness about America’s fallen officers.

Also, the Torrance Police Department’s honor guard detail participated in the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arlington Cemetery.

Last year, 118 officers died in the line of duty.

The City of Torrance will proclaim Blue ribbon week at tonight’s City Council meeting. A time that citizens of Torrance can show support and appreciation for our local law enforcement.
